The Cow
سورة البقرة
With (the one whose) name (is ) Allah*, the Merciful, the Compassionate
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Ayat 1: Alif Lam Meem*
Ayat 2: This Commandment* – undoubtedly, in it there is guidance for (those who wish to become) righteous**.
Ayat 3: Those who believe in the unseen*, and establish Salat**, and spend out of what We have given them***.
Ayat 4: And they believe in what (guidance) has been sent to you and what was sent before you* and achieve certainty about the (life in the) hereafter.
Ayat 5: Those are (the ones who are) upon guidance from their Lord and those are the ones who are (regarded by Allah as) successful.
Ayat 6: Indeed, those who (purposely) reject (the truth despite logical proofs), it is the same to them whether you warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe.
Ayat 7: Allah has set a seal on their hearts and their ears. And upon their vision is a veil* and for them is an immense punishment.
Ayat 8: And among people there are such who (outwardly) say: ‘We believe in Allah and the end time*, but (in reality) they are not believers.
Ayat 9: They (try to) deceive Allah and those who believe. But they do not deceive anyone except themselves and do not realize it.
Ayat 10: In their hearts is a sickness so Allah has enhanced their sickness*. And for them is a painful punishment because they lie.
Ayat 11: And when it is said to them: ‘Do not cause corruption* on the earth’, they say: ‘(But) we are merely reformers!’
Ayat 12: Undoubtedly, it is they who are the corrupters, but (due to their greed and arrogance) they do not comprehend it.
Ayat 13: And when it is said to them: ‘Believe like other (truly believing) people believe, they say: ‘Should we believe as the foolish believe?’ Undoubtedly, it is they who are the foolish but do not realize it.
Ayat 14: And when they talk to the believers, they (deceptively) say: ‘We believe (like you)’. And when they are alone among their (Satanic) evil companions*, they say: ‘Really we are with you, and we were just mocking (them).’
Ayat 15: Allah returns their mockery upon them (as a result of their behaviour) and lets them loose to (further) wander blindly* in their transgression.
Ayat 16: These are the people who (using their free will granted by Allah) bought error over guidance*, so, their transaction bore no profit and they were not guided.
Ayat 17:Their parable is like that of someone who lit a fire and when it illuminated what was around him*, Allah took away their light and left them wandering in the darkness (of ignorance) where they cannot see.
Ayat 18: (They are virtually) deaf, dumb and blind, so they will not turn (from their ways).
Ayat 19: Or (another parable is) like a rainstorm from the sky in which there is darkness and thunder and lightning. They thrust their fingers in their ears from thunderbolts fearing death*. And Allah encompasses the disbelievers.
Ayat 20: The lightning almost snatches their vision. Whenever it flashes on them*, they walk in it, and when darkness (of ignorance) comes (back) on them, they stop. Had Allah so willed, He would have taken away their (real) hearing and their (real) vision. Indeed, Allah has absolute control over everything**.
Ayat 21: O people! Serve* your Lord, Who created you and those before you, so you may achieve righteousness.
Ayat 22: The One Who made this earth like a floor (spread out) for you and the sky like a (protective) canopy for you and sent down water from the sky, then brought forth from it fruits for your provision. So, do not take (other imaginary deities as) equals of Allah and you are aware of it*.
